In additon to the tragic Atlantic Express accident on the Northern State Parkway and the rear ending of a Classic Coach in Massapequa, Suffolk Transit bus #9925 was struck by a Jeep at 5:30 yesterday and the driver of the Jeep was killed. Several bus passengers were injured in the collison but are expected to fully recover.
article can be found at www.newsday.com It's the lead story on the first page.
Also implies that the Atlantic Express Coach was totally lost. Driver came from Staten Island depot. Picked up Girl Scouts in Brooklyn for an upstate trip. Returned them on time to Brooklyn. What was he doing 2 counties east of his dropoff location ? |

I think that Atlantic Express lists their address as 7 North Street in Staten Island, which I believe is located in Port Richmond, just north of Richmond Terrace and almost beneath the Bayonne Bridge. Sad story indeed. |
