You can add another First Place finish for Mr. Bus Roadeo himself, Joe of Long Island Bus. At today's Long Island Bus Roadeo at Jones Beach, he won First Place again. His brother Pat came in 2nd. They, along with the 3rd place finisher for LI Bus will represent Long Island Bus at the New York State Bus Roadeo in September. New York City will be the host City for this year's New York State Bus Roadeo.
The Long Island Bus Roadeo also included Suffolk Transit Bus Operators as well. "Big John" is also a previous winner for Suffolk Transit and he came in First Place. Congratulations to all of the winners and best of luck to everyone in the New York State Finals in September. |

Not to my knowledge. The closest thing to a Museum Bus that exists is Joe Saitta's bus that he restored to the colors of Mid-Island Transit.
LIB does not have any buses from its predecessor companies anymore, nor was any from the initial fleet restored back to their former liveries. |

Yes! they're using them! (couldn't resist that one Bob).
The real answer is; I don't know - It would be nice if they had saved of few Long Island PBL specimens, but I doubt it.

But, If LIB did have a historic fleet a partial list of the specimens that I would like to see in the lineup would be as follows;
A Ford Transit of 1946 vintage or a prewar ACF Brill from Nassau Bus Lines.
A GM TDH 3610 from Bee Line.
A Mack C45DT from Bee Line, Inc.
A GM TDH 4512 from Bee Line, Inc.
A GM TDH 3612 from either Utility Lines or Schenck Transportation.
A GM TDH 3714 from Utility Lines, Babylon Transit or Rockville Centre Bus Corporation.
A GM TDH 3102 from Jerusalem Avenue, Branch Bus, Utility Lines, Coram Bus or Universal Auto Bus.
A GM TDH 5106 from Schenck Transportation.
Just as starters - but the best ones of all are pictured below from Bee Line, Inc.

Nice choices for a LI bus museum, Mr. L!
Great photos, TCC Senior Man!
Question: Is the LIB roadeo course set up in much the same way as the courses used at thr NYCT and MTAB roadeos? |

All Bus Roadeos have the same 11 obstacles. The only way that they are different is in the order that the obstacles are set up. To give you an example, at our MTA Bus Roadeo last year, the first obstacle was the Right Hand Turn. In the LI Bus Roadeo, the first obstacle was the Left Hand Turn. However, every Bus Roadeo that I've ever attended always ends with the same 2 obstacles; Diminishing Clearance (The Barrels) and the Judgement Stop (the small cone.) |

Well the only highlight of that LIB Roadeo was....
1991 Orion 5 #617, used as a roadeo bus, sadly
At least I was allowed to look inside...very first time I boarded on a Ontario Bus Industries-made bus to begin with!
The interior had more baby blue than the seats themselves...vinyl pads on the front seats (not on the seats, but more like towards the sides...I'll show pics later), and something that should be on ALL O5s...
Stop Request strips all the way in the back seats! I saw that and I was like "What a convenient location....too bad BIA never thought of that".
But yeah....that 6v92 sounded more like a Flxible New Look pulling out...or so I thought. Too bad the wind killed my videos |
