I initially put this list together for MOVIEBUSES over on BusChat, but it seemed worth repeating here. This is, as far as I know, a comprehensive list of the NYCTA/MaBSTOA/MTA Bus historic fleet. Corrections and clarifications are welcome.

Nice job!
Please also add FACCO 1263 (1931 Yellow Coach Z-BH-602)
The 1938 Yellow Coach is a Model 735, while the 1917 FACCO 303 is a Model A.

Looks good to me. I think the model designation for NYCTA 8928 is T6H5305A.

Is 303 a Yellow Coach, or was it home-built by FACCo?

According to the 2005 NYCT DOB Insider's Guide and the 2005 NYCT Vintage Bus Fleet, FACCO 303 was home-built.

Question Just last December during the Holiday Season New York City Transit
assigned 5 Vintage buses (#100, 2151, 4727, 5117, & 7340) to its
Crosstown Manhattan Bus Routes. I am aware that the 1938 Fifth Av Coach #2124 needs extensive repairs, while the 1956 Mack Bus #6259 has also been sidelined due to transmission problems. Just recently as of last September former NYCTA 1963 GMC TDH 5303 bus #3758 has been on the lift again. Is Museum Bus #1059 (1961 GM 5301) former NYCTA also having mechanical trouble?

Because I'm here to learn as well as to teach, can someone tell me exactly what a GMC/Blitz is?

Thanks for sharing.

In 1984 and 1985 the MTA sent some buses to a company called blitz to be rebuilt. The photos below are of a blitz bus which is part of the Museum Fleet.

NYCTA GMC Blitz New Look buses retrofitted with more modern
Alison V-730 Transmission's in 1987?

Being that New York City Transit has officially designated the once
remanufactured 1970 GMC Blitz TDH 5305A NYCTA bus #5227
as a museum bus after its retirement in 1995, I am surprised that the agency has decided not to restore this bus back to its original form by putting chrome bumpers on both the front and rear of the vehicle; and
repainting it back to two tone blue with the original fleet #4401. Exclamation

I'm not surprised. There are enough examples of original 1960s Fishbowls in the museum fleet. The Blitz rebuilds are different and also deserve to have a representative preserved. Also, the rebuilding was so extensive, restoring it to original condition probably would not be practical.

Was'nt the originall color of the front seats of Museum Bus #2151
(a former NYCTA 1962 GMC 5301 model) really emerald green? Question

ripta42 makes a good point when he suggests that it also may be that the 'Blitz' rebuilds are in of themselves an interesting facet of the history of the city's buses, and a specimen should be preserved just as it was after reconditioning.

Buses are often updated either to meet changes in regulations or, in most cases, to make them appear newer than they are.

Case in point; there are many photos of both New York City Omnibus and Surface Transporatation TDH 4507's sporting the later heavier bumpers of the 4509 class.

Then there's the classic makeovers that Omnibus did when they put 'Old Look' front clips on their prewar Yellow Coaches (picture below), and Triboro Coach did the same thing with their old ACF's.

Now, would any of these updates merit museum attention if they still existed? - I would say yes!

Photo borrowed for educational purposes only.

Is it true that since last Christmas, both Museum former NYCTA 1962
GMC bus #2151 and former MABSTOA 1974 Flxible bus #7340 are now stored at the Michael J. Quill Depot in Manhattan? Question
