...something tells me that sedan door-equipped Fishbowls were NOT the most commonplace coaches on the streets, back in the old days!! Shocked This DOMENICO Fishbowl, caught on film back in 1975, shows off its "sporty" sedan door.....GMC "custom job"? "In house" customization by Domenico? Your guess is as good as mine on THIS one, my friends! Very Happy http://bus.nycsubway.org/perl/show?2292

For comparison, here is another DOMENICO Fishbowl with the usual folding doors. Sedan doors were of course commonly used on GMC highway coaches (such as the 4104 and 4106), but, as to why such a door was installed on a Fishbowl, I can only speculate.... http://bus.nycsubway.org/perl/show?2295

Last week, there was a thread about those sedan door-equipped fishbowls on the Surface Transit-Canada forum here. That door was a Canada-only option.

Hi, Roy: I'll have to check that out! Had no idea other Fishbowls were so equipped; certainly, a sedan door is NOT what you'd normally picture being used on a Fishbowl! Thanks again for the tip! Very Happy John

Charterways of Ontario had them, Murray Hill of Montreal,PQ had them, (I saw one in Washington,DC back in the fall of 1970 at Arlington National Cemetary), and Canada Coach Lines had a good number of them. At least one or two of the ex Murray Hill fishbowls equipped with the Sedan door wound up at D&F Transit of Fredonia/Buffalo,NY, which picked up four or five fishies for use on the Buffalo-Jamestown route. Those CCL buses with the sedan doors were 1941,1943,1945,1947,1949,1951,1953,1955,1957,1959,1961,1963,1965,1967,
1969,1971,1973,1975,1977,1979,1981,1983,1985,1987,1989, and the
consecutively numbered group of 1991-1997. These buses were the workhorses of Canada Coach Lines fleet for many years. The last ones were sold off in the 1980s when the MC5Bs took over.
