Don't you just love service adjustment? I can't wait until CT Transit Hartford releases their adjustment on August 30th. All I know is my school moved to its new building, so 72S-Asylum Ave will be replaced by 74S-Granby St serving our school and Weaver High School. I found this out because my school sent me a schedule for the new route. Does anyone else have an interesting schedule adjustment story?

Schedule "adjustment" in 2009 is marketing-ese for service "reduction." When I finalize an "adjustment," I summarize the changes and send it to our marketing department, where a bit of a spin is put onto my words.
Fortunately, I prepare for this, and I get to proofread. In the past, the folks writing the press release have completely reversed the meaning of my words, and since the media - especially the newspaper - cannot actually read from the press release or even paraphrase it properly, I make damn sure that there is no room for misunderstanding before it goes out.
After last year's elections, I am convinced that 99% of the people who write copy for both the print and broadcast media are verifiable morons and are unable to read for comprehension!

timecruncher -
True! (Extra Credit Points awarded!)
Marketing Types? Well, to do that job, some skills in use of language quite helpful. I swear many of them take
English - Advanced Seminars - "Euphemisms Can Be Your Friend!" (3 Credits). Also, English - Advanced Seminars -
"Practicum In Applications Of Glib" (3 Credits) (On this one, back of the book answer is: If one can fake sincerity,
one has it made!)
