you can name all the transit companys in your state
you dream of having a real bus collection
you travel to large sporting events just to see the buses
when you see a bus going down the road you can name the bus make and model

To some extent, I am all of those as well as an avid collector of timetables and related materials. |

Oh to have an LTC 4507, 5103 and maybe a C41DT painted in as-delivered colors... |

You know, I suppose when I think about it, if someone were to hand me a mint condition 4507 (either a 47 or a 49) in original Green Line (NY) livery I'd probably figure out a place to keep it (and never tell my wife about it!).
For all you new members that might wonder what my Avatar (see upper photo below) represents - it is one of twenty five 1947 GM TDH 4507's originally built for Surface Transportation Systems of New York but diverted to Green Bus Lines possibly by agreement between the two companies.
Number 937 does not appear exactly the way it was delivered (see lower photo of sister # 942) having had a complete face lift of the front clip including the front doors (this would obviously have been due to a major accident).
Notice that gone are the front floor vents, old fashioned Golden Glow headlamps, original small arrow shaped signals, an earlier version of the GM logo and the outward opening front doors.
At the time this 937 image was taken, it had been stripped of its destination curtains and was ready for transfer to commonly owned Jamaica Buses, Inc.
BTW; I drove 937 many many times!

I only like certain buses, The Fishbowl, The Buffalo and the Scenicruiser.
I do have thousands of pictures of mainly Fishbowls.
I don't like the rest and I don't care who owned them and where they were.
Trivia in other words.
I do like the 1971 to 1972 Chevy Pickup and Suburban.
Then I like the Camaros and Firebirds, Novas and Corvettes of that era.
I like GM Electromotive F7s
aw heck I'm a GM nut |

You KNOW you're a bus nut......
......when you say the word "BUS" before you learn to say "Mama" or "Dada"........
(for yours truly, that was nearly 59 years ago!)
You KNOW you're a bus nut.......
......when, by the age of two, you can already identify approaching buses by their sounds (GM, MACK, WHITE, BRILL)
Again, yours truly speaks from experience.....

I didn't live in the city where I could hear the various makes.
I was a bus fan but I really fell for the Fishbowls at about 1961 or 1962 when I was about 2.
I don't remember the Mack, Brill or the White but as I got bigger the Fishbowl became more prominent. |
