I dedicate this piece to my good friend and associate Q65A who was brought up in pretty much the same Kew Gardens/Forest Hills neighborhood of Queens, New York as I was.
Seen below and ready for delivery in this factory photo is a custom made van for the Forest Hills Fireproof Storage Company of Forest Hills, New York.
Like the buses of yore that matched custom built bodies to well known car and truck chassis makers, so did the moving industry.
In this case, we see a body by Gerstenslager and Sons of Wooster, Ohio married to a 1948 White series 3000 COE style chassis (the familiar White 3000 grill gives that away!).
Forest Hills, a licensee to Mayflower Van Lines, was a long time presence in our community and their colorful yellow and green livery was very pleasing to the eye.
Gerstenslager, whose business dates from the mid eighteen hundreds, was a leading manufacturer of specialty truck bodies until they turned their attentions to the stamping of new and past model doors, fenders and lids for most of the major auto manufacturers both here and abroad.

Mr "L" -
Ah! The Gerstenslager work! The cited web reference, IIRC, has any number of photos of its examples...
On another Forum, several of us were on a long trek about heritage of the Moving Van shown in Mighty Joe Young (1948). It was, in fact,
a late Pre WWII - WWII Era build, White chassis, with a Wooster, OH body. The unit seen was, in fact, a truck from the BEKINS , Los Angeles
based, California Intra fleet. Same truck appears in at least one other film, and marked up as BEKINS ...
