What's your favorite NYC bus observation corner?
Personally, I'd like to nominate 34th St. & 5th Avenue.
At this location, buses are present from every NYCT division and nearly every MTAB depot.
You'll see RTS's, Orion V CNG's & diesels, Orion VII HEV's, and MCI Cruisers. You'll also see Westchester Bee Line buses (including those 2-axle MCI's). There also are quite a few sharp OTR buses, too, because the adjacent Empire State Building is a big-time tour bus magnet.
That's my nomination; please share your favorite corner.

Yup, 34th and 5th was one of my favorite spots for years. I also used to do lots of bus spotting at 57th and Madison. If I was walking in midtown I usually walk south along 6th Ave or Madison and north along 5th Ave.

Outside of Manhattan my favorite hotspots include Main-Roosevelt Flushing, 179th-Hillside, 165th St-Terminal, Archer-Parsons, Fordham Plaza, Fulton Mall.

My favorite corners are limited to where there are webcams. I used to enjoy 49th and 5th when I could see the NYBS fishbowls in the morning. I still look every now and then but it's not the same. Crying or Very sad

Madison & 57th is a great location and I also like 5th & 60th, although both were a lot more interesting back when we still had the multihued PBL buses running around.

Outside of Manhattan, I'd have to nominate Parsons & Archer as a favorite.

Speaking of 57th Street, an interesting place from which to view active bus traffic is the 2nd floor "dining room" of McDonald's. It is located on the north side of W. 57th St., just east of 6th Avenue. The food is what it is, of course, but the large picture windows are very good for viewing street activity.

My preference is for an intersection that allows sunlit photos of the front right side of the bus, but that is quite limiting. Northbound and westbound one-way streets lose because the buses are turned the wrong way. Tall buildings cause shadows! At the moment, I'm thinking of locations along Fordham Road, but ...

In the spirit of that, Jamaica, along Hillside between 173rd & 187th between 9am-12pm as well as Flatbush Avenue between Nostrand and Flatbush Depot between 1pm -4pm are great spots during sunny days

State Street, between Whitehall Street and Battery Place, is a great location for bus photos, especially on weekday afternoons (one can view all the various express buses.) Another good location in Lower Manhattan is Greenwich Street and Battery Place.

Other notable locations:

-Boerum Place and Joralemon Street, Brooklyn
-57th Street between 6th and 3rd avenues, Manhattan
-2nd Avenue and 60th Street, Manhattan
-74th Street/Broadway bus terminal, Queens
-Main Street and Roosevelt Avenue, Queens
-Queens Boulevard and Union Turnpike, Queens
-Queens Boulevard and Woodhaven Boulevard, Queens
-Woodhaven Boulevard and Rockaway Boulevard, Queens
-Sutphin/Archer and Parsons/Archer, Queens
-Fordham Plaza, Bronx
-Bruckner Boulevard and Westchester Avenue, Bronx
-West Farms Square, Bronx

I'm sure I missed many more locations... LOL.
