Another gem of a 39/40 New York World's Fair image comes to us from New England;
Pictured is a 1927 Twin Coach Model 37-R operating for the Berkshire Street Railway Company of Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
While the bus itself is a piece of history in its own right, the focus is on the interesting bumper sign advertising The New York World's Fair Savings Club sponsored by the Berkshire County Savings Bank.
The Street Railway Company and the bank partnered in the venture and those savers who accumulated enough funds in their accounts were entitled to free transportation to the Fair (on Berkshire buses) upon its opening.
I would have to tell you that that would have been one 150 mile trip that I wouldn't have wanted to take in the heat of the summer without air conditioning!
The Berkshire Street Railway was a wholly owned subsidiary of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad and operated routes up and down the western boarder of the state.
Many thanks to the Motor Bus Society for the use of the image.

Seen in the summer of 1955 at Park Square in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and awaiting its next run to North Adams is fleet #133 - a 1953 38 passenger GM Coach modeled as a TDM-3612 and one of seven likenesses numbered 129 to 135 delivered in increments between 1951 and 1953 to the New York New Haven and Hartford (NYNH&H) Railroad Company of Hartford, Connecticut for service on affiliated Berkshire Street Railway Company routes.
The TDM-3612 was a rare bird with its mechanical transmission but was a necessity and did very well for operators facing mountainous terrain such as is found in the environs of Western Massachusetts.
Smartly, NYNH&H opted for under seat heating in lieu of Thermo-Matic systems which were found to be almost useless in colder climates.
The Berkshire Street Railway Company bus division with roots that dated to 1929 and serviced the far Western corridor of the state between Northern Connecticut and Southern Vermont was eventually sold to the Yellow Coach Lines of Pittsfield as part of NYNH&H's divestiture of all of its bus divisions.
