As far as I know, Peter Pan still rebuilds, remanufactutres, and rebuids buses of all kinds and chracter.

Here is a link to the Coach Builders website. Coach Builders is the Peter Pan subsidiary that does the rebuild/repair work. They did the restoration on the GM Future Liner.

I may be heading up to the New Haven/Stamford area in a few weeks to do some bus fanning (may take an overnight Greyhound bus from Philly to NYC, then MN to New Haven and work my way down on CT Transit NH, Coastal Link, and CT Transit Stamford between New Haven and Port Chester).

I know the 100-series New Flyers are down in Stamford along with some 9600-series Nova Classics. What buses are in New Haven and what are the specs? I ask because I saw a video clip a while ago of a New Flyer in New Haven with a Series 50/ZF powertrain (similar to SEPTA's 5713-5830 and 5851-5950 series).

Also, who supplies the buses for Coastal Link? IIRC, GBTA runs a few buses on that line, but do some of the other operators in that area (ie. Norwalk and Milford) supply buses as well?

Last question: Are there any routes in Stamford that could even justify artics? I haven't been up there in several years, and can't think of any routes that were overly packed.

I just busfanned the Norwalk to New Haven corridor two weeks ago - the Coastal Link route was using CT Transit 100-series and 300-series D40LF's with Coastal Link decals (the 100-series bus also had a Norwalk logo on the rear) and GBTA D40LF's without CL markings. I haven't had a chance to post any pics yet but hope to do so in the next few days.

New Haven operates D40LF's in the 300 and 400 series as well as the 9600 Classics. There were some of the 9400 and 900 suburban series D40HF's running there, but I'm not sure if they are still being used.

The Coastal Link is operated jointly by GBTA, Norwalk and Milford. There are 6 of the 300 series D40LF's assigned to the operators (I believe they are 324 - 329, but that would have to be verified as well as who operates each one). There are also some 100 series D40LF's operated by Norwalk on the route, and the transit districts use buses from their regular fleets as well.

My understanding was that the artics were intended for the 11 - Port Chester and 41 - Norwalk routes, which are among the busiest in Stamford's system.

Hi Daniel,

From what I can make of the below report, this may not be a case of Peter Pan giving up the routes, but simply returning older state owned buses to ConnDOT, who in turn will add them to the CT Transit fleet. It appears that Dattco will be returning some coaches as well. Some of these buses have over a million miles on them, so they may be receiving a thorough overhaul before being placed in service. Some of them may be sent to Stamford for use on the I-Bus route.

Last night, I spotted D4500's #303 and 304 in Waterbury, covering the Metro North Waterbury branch bustitution service. The MCI coaches, as well as some Peter Pan coaches, are being used to cover the train service until mid August while track work is being done.

If any more information becomes available, I will pass it along.

I seen 9514. It has Veloporters and Ct Transit Express livery. It was on the 14 line, the longest Express route, which makes sense. I also saw I-Bus 131 on of many express lines running local buses, that bus is on 39. 39-New Britain Av/46-Vine St combo run (formerly Q line)is the worst place for an express bus because of going through the most ghetto place in Hartford, the Upper Albany District. Someone made a boo-boo putting that bus on that line. On another note, H301 & H302 were r/n'ed to 301 & 302.

Beats me. Especially it is on the 2nd worst route, the 46 (1st is the 44 that parallels it); both are local routes(I still can't get over it).

It must either be a temporary shift or CT Transit is moving some of the 100-series D40LF's to Hartford and they haven't removed the I-Bus markings yet. If the second is true, I'm curious what vehicles are now running on the I-Bus.

Or Ct Transit sending the '95 MCI and Novas Classics for the 2001 NF D40LF Suburban.

I believe that some of the 300 series MCI were going to be transfered to Stamford for use on the I-Bus. As for bus 131, it is an 8 year old vehicle, and has probably become just another bus in the Hartford fleet. If there are any remaining 900 / 9400 D40HF's around they will most likely end up in New Britain, and some of Hartford's 9600 series Classics have been sent to New Haven.

I didn't see any Classics in Hartford when I visited last month - the oldest buses I spotted were the 200-series D40LF's. Maybe I missed them in Hartford, but the Classics in New Haven and Stamford were doing midday service and were easy to find.

I forgot to mention, All the 9XX Express Nf's were in service yesterday, until 952 broke down at The Travelers on Main.
