OLD CHICAGO BUSES GET NEW LIFE IN PEORIA
WEEK News 25
January 6, 2009
Don't be confused when you see some CityLink buses in Peoria that don't look quite like the others.
CityLink has purchased ten used buses from the Chicago Transit Authority. The total cost of the buses was $9,027. CityLink officials were concerned the 18-year old buses could break down but so far they're running.
The buses will be used to help CityLink with the struggle to keep transportation routes on schedule.
"We are pleased because we got a very good deal. Chicago, really did go out of its' way to help us out. It wasn't one where they did not want to cooperate. What it will mean to our passengers is that they should be able to get the ride we promised them," said Tom Lucek, CityLink Director.
CityLink will not repaint the buses, but simply put new decals on the exterior. Tom Lucek says new paint would be cost prohibitive. |
