As part of a feature 'Memories of Christmas Past', the Syracuse Post-Standard featured several vintage of photos of South Salina Street in downtown Syracuse that prominently featured buses from the Syracuse Transit Corp. Salina Street was the location of the city's major department stores and was the focus of the city's holiday scene in years past.

December 1951 - aerial view with Twin Coach buses:

December 1955 - note the various Twin Coach models:

1950's - a view of Clinton Square:

1950's - a Twin Coach stops in front of the Edwards department store:

1950's - a Twin Coach on the 4 Court routes passes Jefferson St. on Salina:

December 1963 - Twin Coaches are still numerous, but GMC Old Looks and a solitary New Look bus also appear:

And a 'rail' photo, of sorts - children enjoy the E.W. Edwards Department Store monorail in 1955:

One of those Twin Coach buses was on loan to the New York Museum of Transportation in Rush,NY some years ago. It appeared to have been painted in a maroon and cream livery virtually identical to that used by Rochester Transit Corporation on its Twins, Macks and Old looks. I believe that bus is still around and operable as far as I Know. I did not get the number, but it was defintely from Syracuse.

If I am not mistaken, the Edwards' Monorail the kids are shown enjoying is almost a dead ringer for the one that Rochester had in its now closed Midtown Plaza for so many years. Though the lead car's nose is more pointed than Rochester's. Even the paint scheme on the Twin Coach buses is almost a dead ringer for that used by Rochester Transit Corporation.
