|
|
Unlike merger partner, Niagara Frontier Transit System, the Buffalo Transit Company used letters to designate its routes. It is believed this system formed the basis for NFT's use of letters to designate route variiations on each NFT route, such as 8-Main, Williamsville/North Bailey Meadows to name one example. Here are the BTC route designators:
A- ABBOTT ROAD
C- CAMP ROAD
E- ELECTRIC AVENUE
F- GARDENVILLE(Seneca Street)
G- GENESEE STREET
H- HARLEM ROAD
J- SLOAN
K-KENSINGTON
L-CHEEKTOWAGA-DEPEW
M-MAIN STREET-WILLIAMSVILLE
O-ORCHARD PARK
R-RIDGE ROAD
S-SOUTH PARK-SCRANTON
W-WILLIAM STREET
On BTC destination signs at the front of the bus, the first space was for the route letter, the second space, for the name of route and/or principal street on which the route operated, and the space over the driver's side of the windshield, indicated the destination or final street on which a trip operated. |
