Just a bit of trivia;

Now that the Santa Monica Boulevard line of the LACMTA, which is designated #4 (for nostalgic reasons), has graduated to an all NABI 60 BRT fleet, I notice that at least in the city of West Hollywood the concrete bus stop pads are now being doubled to accommodate the Artics.

Reinforced concrete pads are used at bus stops on any thoroughfare composed of soft pavement such as macadam or asphalt.

The thinking is that, especially in warm climates, a heavy transit bus could sink or depress the pavement under it while standing at a curb.

Mr. Linsky,

I remember the 4 well as it was the bus that passed my apartment on Burton Way back in the early 70's. 4 was actually the Olympic Blvd bus and were designated either 4A or 4B. 4A stayed on Olympic and 4B turned up San Vicente to Burton Way and then on out Santa Monica Blvd. Was entirely served by GM Fishbowls at that time. Never saw a Flx on that line though there were both on the 83 Wilshire line.

Here in the Phoenix area, there is pavement damage at just about every bus stop.
