On Thursday the N27 was running approx one hour late due to flooding and traffic signals out. It all started after 4pm when the skies just opened up, lots of lightning and power outages. Glen Cove rd quickly became a parking lot. The N27 normally heading up to GC passing through Greenvale at around 4:30pm didn't pass through until after 5pm, then after that no buses passed through until just after 6pm. The main reason was Roslyn road was shut down and there were huge traffic jams. Also the light at 25a and Glen Cove road was out.
The 5:25pm outta Glen Cove didnt show up until 6:45pm, and when it came it was packed. I got on the bus right behind that one, which was completely empty. We detoured and took the LIE service road west to Roslyn road instead of Harbor Hill, bypassing the RR station area, where the construction normally makes a mess of things, I was told it was closed because of flooding and problems at Roslyn RR.
Also saw 3 N20's heading toward Hicksville around 6:30pm...3 in a row! The storms wreaked havoc. Luckily I made it home relatively quickly, thanks for the detour, and catching an N22 to Hicksville right away. The bus ahead of us broke down on Maple ave though, briefly got SRO till Post ave.
There were bad storms on Friday as well, luckily they didn't cause the damage that Thursday's storms did. Roslyn Rail & vicinity is a mess even without the storms though, they are doing construction at Roslyn road near Round Hill rd, having only one lane passable at a time, often having traffic stopped for as long as 10 minutes going northbound. When the rains came things mustve been bad!
