Wikipedia covers an incredible breadth of subjects, and NYCT Dept. of Buses and MTAB are no exception. Check out the following links:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bus_models_used_in_New_York_City_Transit_and_MTA_Bus
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_City_Transit_buses
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bus_depots_of_the_New_York_City_Transit_Authority

Much of the info shown is not news to most of the folks at BT3, but there are some interesting items (e.g. NYCT bus demo list); enjoy!

There is also a good deal of historic information that I've been working on. At this moment I'm working on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Railways ; I've also written articles on bus routes like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Concourse_buses and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madison_and_Fifth_Avenues_buses .

Thanks NE2, especially for your link to the c. 1940 NYCO map:

Last week, I was checking out the homepage of the New York Historical Society, and I came upon references to the FACCO Collection in their archives. There were links, but no photos, and apparently this collection is available to "qualified researchers only". I'll try to find the link and I'll post it here when I do.

Here's the link to the FACCO collection on the NY Historical Society website:

It's good to see that what appears to be a priceless collection of FACCO archives (dating from the late 19th Century to 1962) is in capable, professional hands (and not in a landfill someplace Shocked ).

The only map I've found online of the FACCo is this small one:

The rosters on Wikipedia are amazing, asuming they are frequently updated (anyone can do that). The site truly gives a wealth of info for the entire MTA system, not just NYCT.
