Stalwart23,
As the head of the unofficial welcoming committee, let me take this opportunity to say 'glad to have you aboard', and looking forward to your most interesting posts.
I was never much into the operation of Pioneer/Command because it came about after my time at Green Line, but I would certainly be interested in knowing more about Pioneer and what kind of equipment they operated especially pre New Look.
Your Command roster is great!
Thanks for sharing.

Free-transfer,
Nice picture of Pioneer # 412 which was ex Green Line # 412 and one of 30 (401 ro 430) GM TDH 5301's delivered to the company in three shipments between July 1960 and June 1961.
#'s 412 to 416 went to Pioneer Bus Corporation as 412 to 416 in 1973.
#'s 401 to 404 went to Avenue 'B' and East Broadway Transit as #'s 507 to 510 in 1972.
#'s 406 to 409 went to Denver Metro as #'s 101 to 105 in 1973
The balance of the New Look 400's were scrapped.

It definitely looks familiar. When I was a Baruch student in the mid 80s I remember seeing much of these buses being used by Command. Most of these buses had clearly seen better days. Command had also rec'd some much needed new RTSs. |

An update and expansion on the above data.
1 - Bus # 235 - According to Joe Saitta's caption to the 5/10-5/16/98 week of his Mega-Calendar, this bus started out as #658 of Mid-Island Transit, then went to Pioneer as #1810, then to Command as 235 then leased to Green Bus Lines as # 1235 when it was photographed by Doug Grotjan.
I saw this bus in the DOT yard in East Carnarsie on 6/7/00 & 8/23/00 awaiting disposition. |
