Of Note:

Today the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority observes 15 years since the merger between the Southern California Rapid Transit District and the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission. The year 2008 marks the 50th anniversary of public governance and public ownership of the transit system in Los Angeles County, and also the 135th year since the first public transit franchise was granted by the City of Los Angeles. Happy anniversary.
