The last of the MTA Fishbowls........
Wondering if the "Em-Tee-Yay" (officially) acknowledge their retirement?
I am sure at least some enthusiasts were out there, taking vids and photos.....

We might have touched on this awhile back..........
When did the last "stoa" Fishbowls/"Dangerfields" lose their "Tee-Yay" green paint?
I'm going to say sometime about 1974..........

I saw a picture from 1978 of a green " 'stoa" Fishbowl. But from my observations, there were quite a few "greenies" as of 1975. A few depots were quicker to repaint than others. |

W.B.:
Thanks for the info.
Amazing that at least some of the green "Tee-Ay" Fishbowls lasted into the early 1980s
WORST paint scheme to adorn the "classics" was that dreaded "Eskimo Pie Dip"(!!)
Was atkin to doing over the Mona Lisa with Crayolas...........

Quick question..........
Back in the "Soiface" days, were the bus routes in the vicinity of the "Toid Aven-uh El" in "da Bronx" using a mix of "Kramdens" and "Pattons" (Old Looks and MACKS)
Or, did one type more or less than dominate?
Also, what models of Old Looks and MACKS used, say, the last few years (early "Stoa" era)
Appreciate info.....

Also:
About when were the last "Soiface" MACKS retired? (mid-1960s?)

W.B.:
I spotted these as well.
Even then, changes were indeed in the air.........

Both buses appear to be the 1965-66 "Bullet" order (within the non-'batwing' 6401-6700).
By this time, the oldest buses in the fleet, that is among the city-owned/operated lot, were the 1960 "Jetsons," the 1959 bunch having been retired; next up was "The Little Red Bus That Could" and likely the private Queens bus companies. |

W.B.:
By the date of the photo, the El had already been closed for several months; and, with the last of the faithful "Kramdens "retired, the bus fleet was now all Fishbowls and "Dangerfields"
Only "old style" buses still running then were those hard-working "Pattons" rostered by "The Little Red Bys That Could"(AVENUE B)............
