On Eyewitness News at 6, sportscaster Ryan Field shared the following message via social media:

"Name three things that come in a dozen":

Eggs

Roses

Mets' losses

When even the most die-hard fans are wearing paper bags over their heads, and loudly "booing" the players, you KNOW things are really getting ugly.......... Sad

Of those wearing paper bags over their heads, which one would be the son of a certain cartoon cat of "Looney Tunes" fame?

"Sylvester" ridin' the rails (and wires).............

In the Syslvester/Tweety outing, "ALL ABBiiRD"",Sylvester tries (un vain, as usual!) to nab Tweety, who is in his cage, while riding in a baggage car.

For a cartoon, the heavyweight coaches in the train were spot-on, featuring the once-commonplace Pullman green, railroad roofs, riveted sides, and classic-era lettering on the letterboards...... pretty authentic Very Happyi

In another cartoon (cannot recall the title), near the end, Sylvester is doing a "high wire" act, atop streetcar span wires, wule trying no grab Tweety from an upper-story, downtown window.

He ends up getting chased (still on the wires!) by an oncoming streetcar, with Granny at the controls, and Tweety along for the ride! Wink (soundtrack:"Shuffle Off To Buffalo"!)

See:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Riding_Hoodwinked

This 1955 classic features Sylvester chasing after a city bus ("ACME RAPID TRANSIT") on which Red Riding Hood is carrying Tweety to her Grandma's house, out in the woods

Destination sign reads:

"TO GRANDMA'S HOUSE-VIA THE WOODS"

Be sure to watch for the classic "Ralph Kramden" parody! Wink

Interesting.........

In the very first "Road Runner" cartoon (1949's"FAST AND FYRRY-OUS") , the cartoon ends with the hapless, battered "Wile E. Coyote" getting flattened by a GREYHOUND Yellow 743! Shocked

As the bus travels down the highway, we see the ever-grinning "Road Runner" reclining the rear window, and then pulling dowm a shade reading "THE END". Wink

1010 WINS news anchor on the Mets FINALLY snapping their 12-game losing streak:

"WELL,LLLLL, IT'S OVVVVVVVVVVERRRRR! IT'S FINALLY OOOOVVVVEEERRR! The Mets FINALLY snapped their 12-game losing streak!" Shocked Now.......let's see what transpires this evening......perhaps another "miracle" in the offing? Wink

Or, was last night's long-overdue victory but a "fluke" Question

We shall see.............

"Noo Yawk" baseball "nooze" for "Toisday"......

Believe it ir not, the Mets WON AGAIN THIS EVENING, making TWO straight wins!! Shocked Shocked

Once again, happy Mets fans are jamming the homebound #7 trains, and "Mr. Met" can, finally, REALLY smile Very Happy

The ever-arrogant "YINOs", of course, won YET AGAIN, further inflating their already overly-inflated egos. Sad

Guess "Uncle Hoiman" and "Katnip" were once again in attendance at tonight's game......... Wink

However, the animated "Globetrotters" apparently weren't in attendance at last night's NBA playoffs game, as "doze Ka-nicker-bockers" lost in another squeaker to the Hawks.

W,B.:

Looks like the animated Globetrotters 70s-vintage team van might have had a bit of engine trouble (either that, or they simply couldn't cough up enough for the gas money!!) Shocked

Or, if their bus is a "juicer," their recharging station was taking its sweet little time in boosting its "juice."

"Noo Yawk" baseball "nooze" for Friday.........

It's "back to normal", I guess, seeing how the Mets LOST tonight's game, while the "YIMOs" are yet again victorious........the "AYF" brigade, I am sure, are indeed foaming at the mouth tonight, sharp fangs bared; something told me earlier that the "AINO" only had two wins in them, before losing once again..........Sad

Gettin' pretty stale.......... Razz

Or, as a few Tex Avery cartoons would have someone holding up a sign saying: "MONOTONOUS - ISN'T IT?"

(Of course, Avery once put out a cartoon, Batty Baseball, in 1944 . . . )
