When RTS still used the curtain roll signs on its buses, the following example shows how the front sign over the bus' windshield could be read:
8 E.Main to Browncroft with other readings including Wyand Crescent, Winton Road, 1372 E. Main. Westbound buses would be signed: 8-Chili with the destination reading being either Genesee Park BLVD, Gates Center, or something to that effect. Unlike the NFTA in Buffalo, there were no route variation letters displayed on the bus. These were only shown in the timetable beside the time of the affected trip. Predecessor Rochester Transit Corporation received its first fishbowls, a group of 200 series TDH5302s at about the same time the Buffalo Transit Company got its ten such buses. Unlike the BTC units, these did not have the emergency door opposite the center door. One is displayed at the New York Museum of Transportation and looking worse each time I see it with so much of the windshield smashed as was the rear window of the bus with the two center panels gone. |
