Taken on a brisk fall day in 1933 near the intersection of DeKalb and Willoughby, the image below (upper) optimizes what the Brooklyn we love was like in the days of yore.

The bus (center right) is a Twin Coach operated by the Brooklyn and Queens Transit Corporation (see lower frame).

You truck enthusiasts will appreciate the two 'Bull Dog' Mack Model AC chain drives stuck in traffic (the word 'Service' on the first AC tells me that the dumper is probably from either Colonial Concrete or Gerosa Haulage which were two big names in construction back then.

It appears as though there is some sort of construction taking place in the center of the street but it is too difficult to define it further than that.

1933 marked the beginning of the great shift from traction to rubber in New York City and the trolley seen crossing the avenue (center of frame) could have been making one of its last runs.

Mr. Linsky: Though I'm already familiar with the 1933 'traffic jam"goto, I'm really glad that you've posted it here! I could NEVER get tired of looking at the pic and wishing I were there!!! Very Happy John
