The buses inherited by the NFT Metrobus system on its formation in 1974 included the following: 63 Mack C49DT "new look" buses, 65 GMC TDH5106's including twenty from Buffalo Transit Company, 10 GMC TDH5302s, also ex BTC, 60 TDH5301s (configured to seat 49 instead of 53 passengers. I rode several of these), 258 TDH5304/T6H5304s, the last of which were delivered in 1969; From Niagara Falls came 25 Old Look GMC TDH3502s, all built in 1965 and followed by 15 T6H4521s, delivered in 1968. From D&F Transit came five GM PD4106 cruiser type buses, two of them restroom equipped, the others not; From Lockport Bus Lines came 11 PD4104s, 1 PD4106 two TGH type buses converted to diesel, all but the 4106 dating to the 1950s. From Grand Island Transit came two SDM4501s, one SDM5302, (later converted to automatic transmission), one S8M5304A (also converted to automatic transmission), and one Pontiac stretchout. T-NT Transit Company contributed several school buses modified for transit use in those twin cities that gave that company its name. I was wondering if anyone else operated such a motley assortment of equipment under a single banner as this. I believe there were other systems with a similar, though larger motley assortment of buses in service like this. |
