Nice display of photos (you can make them a wee bit larger if you like).
The shot of the LFS at the subterranean terminal - was that across the creek in Longuiel?

Not sure. I usually will get a bit familiar with new city when visiting, but since my French is non-existant, I had the hardest time with Montreal. Great city though. Would love to visit again someday. The photo you inquired about is in the bus loading area at the Casino. We rode there on the free shuttle. It circulates through downtown and we caught it in front of our hotel. On the return trip we rode STM's route 167X to the nearby Yellow line Metro station. |

Nice shots. I see you were mostly around Olympic stadium (I live a few miles east of there in Pointe-aux-Trembles) and downtown.
Waynejay: If ever you come back to MTL, send me a PM, we could go for a beer and I could translate for you for a little while maybe. That applies to everyone here who is thinking of coming over to Montreal. |

Yes, we didn't go too many other places, except on the tour. Montreal is a great city and despite us not being French-speaking, we did fine. It was great that so many locals also spoke English.
I will certainly look you up next time. |

You don't find a lot of people in the city that don't speak English, anyway, these days, the childern learn English starting in 1st grade, my eldest daugther (7 yrs old), which I have every second weekend, started last year, she's going to 2nd grade in September. My youngest (15 months old) won't have that problem, my wife in an English teacher. Compare that to 25-30 years ago, I started English classes in 5th grade, but I was already bilingual from the get go. I can thank Sesame Street and Mr. Dressup for that.
But, if you go in the regions, like Saguenay, Gaspésie or Abitibi-Témiscamingue, you'll have a harder time getting people who can speak English.
EDIT: On the weekend of Sept.12th and 13th there will be a doors open day at the STM's Legendre maintenance centre (Centre de transport). The garage has been extended and a new "green" building has been built and they will most likely show off the new Nova LFS Artics set to go in service in October.
The 12th is reserved for STM employees and their families and the 13th is for "Monsieur et Madame Tout-le-Monde", which means, if you're in the neighbourhood, drop by, I'll be there, camera and spare batteries in hand! |
