Nice stuff, Waynejay.
The wife and I were up/over there last week visiting with son #3 and daughter, who both live up in Odenton, MD. Long story that - our son and her husband work for the same employer...
Anyway, on Wednesday, it was my responsibility to show our daughter how to get from Odenton to UMd using transit. It is fairly easy (if not cheap), MARC train to New Carrollton and WAMATA F6 to campus.
While waiting for the bus at New Carrollton, there was a steady parade of Flxible Metros, New Flyer low floors (diesels and hybrids both) and Prince George County Gilligs and Thomas buses through the transit center. We got a fairly new New Flyer hybrid for our westbound ride, returning later in the day on a very tired Flxible that sounded as if it had a Cummins L-10 engine.
The L-10 is like the DD50 in the Metros here in Louisville: not as noisy, but just as slow!
We also rode a couple of UMd's 35-foot low floor Gilligs to get from campus over to College Park Metro and back.
Lemme see if I can get some photos to post later tonight...

Timecruncher -
Sorry for the delay and I'm glad you liked the photos.
Odenton is a nice quiet area. I have a friend who lives other there too. The only downside I see is that they don't have much in the way of mass transit options.
I'd have to say you were somewhat lucky to see a bunch of Flxibles. Was it rush hour? The New Flyer Hybrid you rode is one of the 50 that WMATA purchased in 2006. 39 of the are regualr DE40LFR and the last 11 are the restyled DE40LFR and they're painted silver.
Here's a pics of each:

We were in New Carrollton headed towards UMd in the morning peak, around 7:00am. Saw both types of hybrids while waiting for the F6 to show.
Odenton has adequate transit service between MARC and Connect-a-Ride, except that the latter is somewhat unreliable (First Transit). Sometimes the bus shows, other times it doesn't. Finding info about it is difficult even on their website.
I never cease to be amazed at how badly some transit systems are at getting their information out to an internet-savvy public. So many systems have websites that are never updated, are poorly-designed and their printed matter looks as if it were printed up from an Atari 8-bit.

It's scary when you start making the same noises As your coffee maker. |
