".....wouldn't LaVerne and Shirley be proud?" (anchor comment on 1010 WINS earlier, regarding the rampaging 'Broo-ers'".............
Recall, also, until 1963,"Shik-aka" and "Mil-Walk-ee" were linked via the high speed trains of the "North Shore"..............

Only delayed the inevitable, as the "Broo-ers" clinched the Series in five games. First in their history. (Had the "Rayz" won, it would have been THEIR first.)
In other sports "nooze" . . .
- The "Nix" seem to have pulled some strings to have the animated "Globetrotters" back in the cheering section, as they've won their last two games, the most recent tonight against "da Bullz" in "Shik-aga." Their record is now 2-3; the "Netz," however, haven't won a single game since the season started, they're now 0-4.
- "Joisey" has surged past the "Rayn-jers" for second place; apparently "Pea-Ess' " spirit has been carrying the day for the Devils thus far. The "Eye-landers" are in fifth place in the Metro Division of the "En-Aitch-El."
In short, pendula and seesaws swinging wilder than the stock market on the most hectic of days. Not unlike during baseball season. |

From 1010 WINS, earlier...........
The late Mr. Koosman, on the '89 Mets, winning the World Series:
".....we went from being the 'Lovable Losers" to the world champions....."
Another great chapter in the Mets' history book ends.....

)
(The late Mr. Koosman won 141 games with the Amazibs, back in the day!)

It was noted in some corners that the combo of Mr. Koosman with the late Tom Seaver led to the Mets' pitching department being called the "Tom & Jerry" show. One wonders if the cartoon cat and mouse were among the Mets' cheering section that year . . .
In other sports "nooze" . . .
- The "Noo Yawk Nix" are currently 3-4 - and the "Netz" are tied for last place with "da Bullz" and Milwaukee Bucks at 1-6.
- The "Rayn-jers" won tonight (and thus Mr. Fischler can lay off the Maalox for a little bit), they're now 8-7-1, "toid" in their division; the "Joisey" Devils are ahead of them in 2d place at 10-5-0, and the "Eye-landers" are 7-5-2, 5th place.
- In football, the Giants are atop the NFC East heap at 4-2-1; "da Jetz" are next-to-last in the AFC East at 2-6-0. But, as they're "Noo Yawk" in name only, well . . . |

W.B.:
Mr, Koosman's passing marked not only the passing of one of the iconic '69 Mrts, but also, another broken link to the glory days when the mighty organ at Shea was still making beautiful music for Mets fans, but also, the days when "Blueboids" ruled the Flushing line.
Another veterab Mets "Iron Mn" has passed on to that bullpen in the sky.....
