Ten years. Much too long, IMO.
They should have tried harder to find a good replacement site, built an all new terminal there, while keeping full service to the current terminal. Could probably be done in three or four years. And when completed, cut over to the new one on a weekend.🤷‍♂️

traildrier:

I could not agee more; I have also felt likewise.

When one considers that it only took a few years to build the original IRT subway, well over 100 years ago, and then compare that to the current "boodoggling" with the construction of the new PABT, well, it DOES make you think.

I know that, for many years ow, NJT has been using a large bus storage lot in Weehawken, alongside the Lincoln Tunnel helix.

IMHO, the sitution surrounding the ten-year construction project is going to be rife with major delais and other assorted headaches.....it ain't going to be pretty......

.........with traffic beyond gridlock during rush hours, you would think, that, at some point in the past, a new set of tubes under the Hudson would hve been at least studied, new tunnels which would hve been used by buses only.........................

You are right!

But look how long it's taking them to do likewise with the new rail tunnels...

traildriver:

Again, this massive engineering project (which ALSO included the building of Penn Station) took place welloer 100 years ago, and look at what was accomplished.
