In 1972 the TB was based out of the 146 Street Depot or as in the fare box code OFS. The buses assigned to 146 were numbers 5201-5245, 5435-5515, 6701-6735, and 8696-8780 all were GM TDH-5303 models.
6701-6735 had batwings and 8696-8780 had Batwings and air conditioning.
If in 1965 the TB was based at 146 Street they would have had numbers 2838-2933, 3430-3454, 5201-5245, 5448-5517, 6701-6735.
Numbers 2838-2933 were GM TDH-4509 ex Fifth Avenue Coach Lines exx New York City Omnibus. Numbers 5516 and 5517 had batwings.

Would you know at what point what was split into M34, M35 and Bx21 in 1974, were assigned to 132nd Street depot (fare box code OTS), as based on the 1974 side roll sign and 1975 and 1976 "split side" front roll signs? I had said that up to then, they'd pingponged between 146th and 100th Street (OHS) depots.

When, in 1966, would it have been finally retired?

W.B.:
Retired TOO EARLY, if you ask me, and "soitanly" a bus that MORE than deserved to be preserved..............

Ain't arguin'. But by then it was bearing the 'NEW YORK CITY OMNIBUS CORPORATION' moniker (they had, until 1951, two "subsidiaries," Madison Avenue Coach Company, Inc., and Eighth Avenue Coach Corporation, "merged" for corporate streamlining purposes). Too bad no photos of 2969 exist outside of that famous photo session - either after the sides were renamed 'FIFTH AVENUE COACH LINES INC.' or the early " 'stoa" repaint job if they had any.
I figure it must've been the latter part of 1966, before the 480 A/C batwings arrived at various " 'stoa" depots in Manhattan and "da Bronx."

W.B.:
Too bad that iconic bus, at the very least, could not have been sold (along nwith some other running mates) to one of the Hudson County independents, for at least several more years of service.........
