Like I was saying . . . paper-thin tin men . . . clearly NOT made of the stuff the "Iron Men" of old were . . .

Meanwhile, the "Boulevardiers" were off last night . . . they clearly think they ARE God . . . as do the "AYF's" . . .

W,B.:

Indeed, the " IRON MRN: of decades past were INDEED made of sterner stuff, far moreresulient than the cardboard cutout "tin men" that pass for players today.

DO the "Bouelardier" believe they are GODS.......do "NTTS" rule the subways, today? Razz

In their pompous minds, they are the BE ALL and END ALL......'nuff saud

(thankfully, Nr. Young is on the mrnd)

End of an era..........

This AM, 1010 WINS anchor Scott Stanford had a good one-on-one interviews with iconic Mets announcer Howie Rose, retiring after decades behind the mike.

VERY good interview an obviously humble a nnouncer who had many years of memories to share; and will now devote his time to golf, at his home in Florida.

Haay Retirement,Howie! Very Happy

Howie Rose's coming exit from the Mets' broadcast booth contrasted wildly with when the late John Sterling hung up his mic as Yanks' broadcaster - all of a sudden, no advanced notice except a statement to the press, blindsiding everybody. I'd say of those two, Mr. Rose had - and has - more class to him. With Howie, it was all explained, all planned in advance, giving management time to audition potential replacements.

Just "hoid" on 1010 WINS that Mr. Judge will be out for most (if not all) of the remaining season due to an injury.....I doubt fomer Eyewitness News anchor Bill Ritter is at all pleased with this news.........

Yep. Another cardboard-cutout "tin man." Looks like the former "Cap'n" (Jeter) was the last in a long line of "iron men" for the team. (I remember that throw he made after his injury that put him out for a year.)

And yep, even withoiut "the Judge," the "Boulevardiers" stomped the Diamondbacks all right - and once again, thanks to the Mets' win, the "AYF's" are once again boxed in.

W.B.:

I don't think that any of us really thought of Jeter being the last of the true "Iron Men" until the succession of cardboard cutout "tun men" began dominating the team,in later days.

And, you know aswell as I do, with each win, the arrogance level of both the "AYF" and the players themselves grows to even greater proportions....... Sad

On a transit related note...........

Heard on the news earlier that today the Mets officially retired Number "15".

Recall, FACCo's Route #15 to Queens, and the the BMT's "#15 JAMAICA"

In my collection, I have a roller cirtion section that reads:

"15 LIMITED STOPS"

We're gonna be seeing whatever goes down in Arizona, where the "Boulevardiers" are playing the Diamondbacks - but win or lose, "AYF's" will have no leg to stand on in any case thanks to the Mets' crushing the "Phil-eeze."

More on "numbers".......

Unlike the "Bee-Em-Tee", the "Eye-Are-Tee's" numbers (am referring hee to route numbers printed on roller cirtains) onlu went as high as "7", wheras the "Bee-Em-Tee's" rouite numbers went well into the double digits.

Of course, there WAS, on the "Eye-re-Tee", the "9", for some years.........
