| Cool looking buses. I think PE had some that served on the Newport Beach line. If I remember correctly, the president of PE lived down there and wanted a nice bus to get him there swiftly from downtown LA. |

In the "BUS WORLD ENCYCLOPEDIA OF BUSES" (Stauss) there is a nice photo of a UP PD-4101, restored by "Eastshore Falcon Lines"...........truly an IMPRESSIVE, historic bus......

"REAR VIEW"..........
Recal lthe original YELLOW GM "PD""/PG" type coaches; the rounded rear ends of these bug buses were clearly inspired by that used on the FLXIBLE "Clipper".
However, there WERE differences;in particularly the rear ends of the "PG"/"PD"-types, which featured illuminated drumheads, which the "Clippers" did not have.
PSNJ rostered a number of these tough=looking buses,backin the day.......

Agreed.
Even a British fellow who authored a great book obon London's iconic "Routemaster" stated that:
"....tpday's high-tech buses look as though they were designed by disturbed minds......"
Amen, brother!
Same foes for today's slitheruy, serpentine LRVs. 
Speaking of TOUGH buses, MACKS were especially TO\OUGH-loojing; ACF-BRILL C-44s not only LOOKED tough but SOUNDED tough as well.....they were FEARSOME! 
Today's "rolling iPad"s are as appealing as a shoe box...........

TOTALLY agree! 
We had WHITES (as well as the Old Looks and ACF-BRILLs) in my neighborhood through a good chunk of the1960s, parading by right by our old apartment building in Ubion City.
We had both the older 798s and the newer 1150s; indeed, they were TOUGH, all the way around!
However, WHITES had a tendency to struggle on steep grades; the last ones in my area (like the MACKS and ACF-BRILL C-44s), were all gone prior to 1969/1970.
Years ago, BUS WORLD did a good article on the WHITES that operated in Scranton until the early 1970s; interestingly, these grizzled old vets were replaced by ex-PSNJ Old Looks.....
