....and, in contrast, there were some elderly, battered "Lo-Vs" that survived in MOW service into the 1980s.....

THIS is going to be QUITE interesting, fellows.....

"Hoid" a report on 1010 WINS about "interlockings:" heard from Mr. "Jan-OH!" and one of his cohorts that "we cannot add new subway routes using century-old technology."

Also:

"We are now relying on 1930s-era infrastructure......."

(we've "hoid" all this before)

According to the 1010 news report, there are "too many switches at interlockings complicating matters" (funny.......U thought itwas just the OPPOSITE) Shocked

De Kalb and Nostrand Junction were mentioned, as well as Parkchester on the "Eye-Are-Tee".

No mention, of course, of the massive rebuilding at De Kalb's interlocking in the late 1950s.....oh, man, this ANYONE, for sure....... Sad

W.B.:

IMHO, it would simply be common logic to provide as many switches and crossovers as possible, to provide greater operational flexibility.

And, also, common sense would dictate that an interlocking is SUPPOSED to be COMPLEX, and be furnished with a number of switches. especially at busy junctions.

Replacing so many "traditional" towers with "master towers" was a HUGE mstake, IMHO..............

'NYO"

BTW:

1010 WINS report has "Mr. Jan-OH!" telling us that there are at least 70 bottlenecks/troublespots on the subways that need to be rectified.......thecurrent MTA "brass"needs to start "getting their act together, and getting a gripon realty...... Sad
