Greatly appreciate both the links and the "news"; I would have thought that MCI was, for sure, still "the king of the road", regarding the bus builder with the largest customer base in the United States.....guess I was mistaken!
Now.......it WOULD be interesting indeed if, at some point, NJT places an order for a group of PREVOST coaches......

GREAT LINK; will enjoy this later on tonight!
Ironically, NJT's first articulateds (VOLVO) back in the later 80s, were very poor performers overall.
The lacked any sort of "oomph" on climbing steep grades (the a/c had to be shut off during the simmer to enable the buses to "gain strength" when climbing any sort of steep grade)
The seat cushions were forver coming loose from the frames, and, during the winter months, the rear sections were prone to"whiplashing" while making turns on wintry streets.
In later years, NEOPLANS replaced the VOLVOs; now, NEW FLYERS are coming in.
PREVOST, IMHO, was, and STILL is, in a class of its own...........

"What's in a name?" (just a bit of levity)...........
Alternate names for a GREYHOUND/TRAILWAYS merger:
"HOUNDWAYS"
"'TRAILHOUND"
(the former sounds like a rescue organization for homeless K9s, while the latter would be a good name for a brand of dog food).........

After the acquisition of Trailways Inc., (formerly known as Continental Trailways), by the new owners of Greyhound Lines in 1987, as a condition of allowing the sale, Greyhound was required to interline and work with the remaining independent family owned Trailways carrier's, some of whom were no longer connected together.
So, a funny think happened...Greyhound briefly joined the Trailways Transportation System as another dues paying member. And during that brief period actually called themselves "Greyhound Trailways", although I can't recall them actually marking any buses accordingly. Anyway, in a short time, they continued the working arrangement, but dropped out of membership, as there really was no benefit to them... |

As always, appreciate the additional info; thank you!
I must admit, even though i've long been a HUGE "Eagle" fan, after the takeover, I never liked seeing EAGLE coaches in GREYHOUND paint......for me (and I'm sure other purists mightd agree with me) seeing an EAGLE in "Hound"paint just didn't "click".
I've also read that GREYHOUND was happy to retire them from their fleet.............
