The Loop terminal at Clark and Randolph was Greyhound's "flagship terminal" for many years. I used it many times traveling between Rantoul and Chicago in 1966 and '67., and again when going to Chicago in the '70's and '80's. Was very sorry to see it gone. The Penn Center underground terminal at 17th and Market Streets in Philadelphia, built in the late '50's was very similar. Very sorry to see that one gone as well... |

At least, you were fortunate to personally know BOTH of these classic, now-gone facilities.
I truly believe that we have lost far too much of our valuable transportation history (especially GREYHOUND) to "progress", over the past several decades.
Thankfully, there are still so many historical photos for us to pour over today, thanks to the ever-vigilant bus photographers of years past!
