Another prewar "Soiface" relic; again, I wonder how many "buffs" catch onto the color scheme, once so familiar to both TARS and "Soiface"..........

The bus in this photo is a White model 684 Surface Transportation and operated by Westchester Street Transportation. They were purchased in 1936 and transferred from the Bronx in 1943 to Westchester Street.

MabSTOA 15:
As always, greatly appreciate your historical input!
As was the case with FACCo (and the later NYCTA), the (postwar) "Soiface" fleet went back and forth between purchases of Old Looks and MACKS.
Of course, unlike FACCo, "Soiface" DID operate postwar TWINS (aka "Oddballs").........

Thought.......
Hate the fates been more in a more generous frame of mind, and "Soiface" had survived into the 21st century, I do not see that as being a thought all that "far-fetched".
After all, the old Queens "indies" survived into the early 21st century.
I can easily see "Soiface" becoming an "Are-Tee-Es" stronghold....

Question..........
Curious at to when "Soiface" retired their postwar "Oddball" TWINS; were these buses retired when the Fishbowls (5301s) arrived, or, were they retired at an earlier date?
I would guess the "Oddballs" went straight to the torch, with no chance of being sold to another operator........

I'd say either before or during the period the "Tee-Yay" washed their "Oddballs" right outa' their hair . . . |

W.B:
OK, so that would pretty much translate into the "Oddballs" rostered by "Soiface" being retired sometime about 1955/1956.
In any event, they certainly did not last long in the fleet......not at all that surprising..........

Further..........
Remember, also, that the "NORTH SHORE BUS COMPANY" alao once rostered postwar "Oddballs".
Interestingly, in 1947, 40 of these buses were ordered, but, instead were delivered to the "Bee-oh-Tee".
The buses, as delivered, were painted in the "NORTH SHORE" colors of gray and green..........
