This one's a kick.......(!!)

David Navarro (Eyewitness News at 4) did a "run through" report on the MTA allowing ads for alcoholic beverages back inside subway cars and in stations, for the first time in seven years.

Stock footage showed "Silverboids" on the #1, a few quick glimpses of "Brighton Belles", and a train of "JETERBUG "R-142s".

Now, here's the KICK......

".......much needed revenue for the cash-strapped MTA will be generated by the return of this advertising............."

"CASH STRAPPED"??!!??Shocked Shocked Shocked

The "Em-Tee-Yay" has been raking in HUGE amounts of $$$$$$$$$$$ ever since congestive pricing into affect! Shocked

"CASH-STRAPPED"??!!??!!?? Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

You GOTTA be KIDDING!!!!!!! Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation

ONLY in "Noo Yawk"! Razz

"NYO"

(BTW: Fare goes up to $3.00 in January; sheesh, and it was only 50 CENTS back in 1979, when Your's Truly began working downtown, and the "tubes" were only 30 CENTS!!) Shocked Shocked

Also........

If ads for alcoholic beverages are coming back to the subways, rest assured we wont be seeing any car cards or platform posters for BALLENTINE, RHEINGOLD, or SCHAEFFER........(!!) Rolling Eyes

This classic 1974 "JIM BEAM" ad (featuring "The Sultan of Swat") might have been displayed inside the MTA's cars back then, including the ancient "Arnines", which, themselves, dated back to "The Babe's" era............. Wink
