Interesting to note...........

Overseas (especially in Europe in Asia), the majority of tramways utilized pantographs and bow collectors, though some used conventional trolley poles.

In Great Britain, some systems used trolley poles, while others used bows (interestingly, in Great Britain, the poles used on the trolleybuses were called "booms")

Like Washington DC, the trams operated off of both trolley wire and underground conduit............

Sad.......

These days, in Italy (and virtually everywhere else on the Continent) "traditional trams" more and more relegated to tourist operations and museums.

Light Rail units which m,ore resemble evil, human-digesting caterpillars from a far-gff galaxy both frighten me and totally turn me off. Evil or Very Mad

These are NOT trams! Razz

To think, way, way back in the day, Europe and Asia were both popular Meccas for traction buffs, seeing vintage equipment still in regular service; sadly, those wonderful, exciting days are now long, long gone......... Sad
