Los Angeles..........

Though I've posted these links in another topic elsewhere, i wanted to post them again, in a separate topic, dealing with today's transit in Los Angeles.

After the last LAMTA streetcar and trolleybus lines were converted in 1963, no one then could have seen the return of electric rail transit (both heavy and light rail) after an absence of some 27-odd years.

(talk about coming full circle)

Let's start out here with electric rail.............

Buses............

Today, Los Angeles boasts of having the "Nation's Largest Clean-Air Fleet" (during a skit on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" last evening, outside the theatre on Hollywood Boulevard, several buses passed by, emblazoned with the legend "THE NATION'S LARGEST CLEAN-AIR FLEET" (ironically, though electric rail transit indeed made a comeback in the area, trolleybuses never returned (although, some years ago, there WAS talk about a trolleybus revival in Los Angeles; this, sadly, never came to pass)...................

This sleek, stylish, "Art Moderne" sign, directing passengers to the Metro Red Line subway at Union Station, is indeed reminiscent of the type of signs which were common back in the halcyon "Red Car" era; also, such modern signs could also be found in some subway stations in New York, Philadelphia, and Chicago, back in the day............
