FEW things in life are sadder (or more heart-breaking) than seeing a group of "Kramdens" awaiting their date with the torch; to say I STILL have a special place in my heart for these once-familiar (and beloved) childhood friends of mine is indeed an understatement.

And yet, 3224 (ex ST 3024) was within the same orders that yielded the FACL sets of buses with the protruding front signs. You and I agree that it was a tragedy they were all shelved prematurely, but not only were the MTA enamoured with the "shiny and new," they seemed to think it more profitable to send 'em to the scrapper rather than let other transit agencies in other parts of the country have a go at 'em. Tragic on multiple levels, not just on our vantage points.
