(SEE PREVIOUS POST)

......in "GMC INTERCITY MOTOR COACHES" (Grams/Gold) there is a photo of a "TEXAS MOTOR COACHES" PD-4107 "Buffalo", about to depart Fort Worth for Dallas.

This company once operated an hourly local service between Dallas, Grand Prairie, Arlington, and Forth Worth, as well as non-stop turnpike expresses.

Local trips took and hour and 45 minutes, while the express runs took 45 minutes..........

On this day in 1963........

The new "M&O" (Leonard's Department Store) shuttle trolley line/"subway" opened, connecting the store's several parking lots to the store itself.

Service was provided by a group of sleek ex-DCT PCCs, whose updated streamlined bodies gave them the distinct look of a crack 1930s streamliner!

Thankfully, one of the original (streamlined) cars has been preserved, and now presides over a bank lobby bdown Texas way........ Wink

Dallas "mystery" buses (1963)................

I have seen a few photos online showing JFKs ill-fated motorcade in Dallas in November, 1963, where several Dallas city buses are also seen.

At first, I thought these buses MIGHT have been WHITES, but then dismissed the idea; what made these older-model city buses interesting is that they were air-conditioned, utilizing the older-style long roof duct connected to the a/c unit over the rear windows.

What I DO know for certain is that we had no such buses in my area of New Jersey, back then.............

Further..........

I have had no luck in trying to find out the make of the Dallas bus as seen in the previous 1963 photo; I will honestly admit I have not a clue....the bus was clearly not one built by one of the more well-known manufacturers(IMHO).............

I think it is a Southern. I read somewhere about Southern. I believe some other manufacture bought them out.
