From today's edition of Metro Magazine:
N.Y. transit authority adds hybrid buses
Regional Transit Service (RTS) Inc., a subsidiary of the Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority (RGRTA) serving Monroe County, N.Y., is set to purchase 19 Gillig Corp.-manufactured hybrid buses, bringing the number of GM hybrid-powered buses ordered by New York transit agencies to 113.
When the deliveries are completed next year, New York will boast the second largest statewide fleet of GM hybrid-powered buses. The state of Washington leads with 240 hybrid-powered buses.
The 113 diesel-electric buses will save an estimated 165,000 gallons of fuel annually and significantly reduce emissions compared with conventional diesel buses.
RGRTA reports that the efficiency of the diesel electric drive system will enable the agency to keep the fare stable at $1.25 for the twelfth consecutive year. |

Of course, when the Orion-BAE hybrids are factored in, New York State has the largest overall hybrid fleet by far. |

Wouldn't those Gillig hybrid buses be the Advantage model. If so, NFTA in Buffalo has a bunch of them in service. I saw them on the 48-Williamsville Route last week. |
