BBC and others report that a bus from Poland tumbled off an Alpine highway the other day and at least 26 were killed. This happened near Grenoble, France.
What puzzles me is this sentence in the report:
"Investigators will want to know if the Polish coach was in a proper state and if it was fitted with the electronic braking system compulsory for excursions into the mountains, our correspondent adds."

What is electronic braking? Do our buses have it?
Thanks.

Sounds like some sort of Antilock braking system and strong probability that the driver of the Polish coach was not familiar with its operation. Combine this feature with an air brake and you are apt to have one very, very touchy system, which, if improperly applied could lead to a catastrophic crash as happened near Grenoble, France. I could be wrong, if so, I stand corrected.
