HAD to post this here......enjoy! Wink

https://patch.com/new-york/upper-west-side-nyc/where-59th-street-subway-station-new-indiana-jones-trailer (interesting little article!)

Note the timeless 1950's-era turnstiles (ahhh, the memories!); I wonder if these might have been supplied by the NYCTM?

Maybe it's just Your's Truly, but, given the first three letters of INDiana's first name, I would have thought that he (and his thundering steed!) would have stampeding through the "Eye-En-Dee"(!!) Shocked

Still............. Very Happy

['NYO"

Compare the ventilation grills seen here at the IND's "G"/"GG" station at Myrtle-Willoughby (Stan Fischer's "home" station for many years) with those seen in the photo seen in the first link I posted here, regarding Indiana Jones storming the subway..........

Though this is, of course, an "Eye-En-Dee" station (145th Street), this 2010 photo is eerily reminiscent of the decades of decay ever-visible at the "Bee-Em-Tee's" Chambers Street station (ol' INDiana would clearly feel right at home in either station!)...............

Scroll down the page for an (interesting) photo of a gray-haired INDy ridin' the rails 'neath the streets of "Noo Yawk" (yeah, the other passengers DO seem to be attired a bit on the "wild side", but, hey, after all, it IS "Noo Yawk!) Wink

This car is clearly based on an older model; note the roller curtain box just glimpsed on the left, also, note the subway map..............

Near the bottom of the page, you'll see INDy upon his galloping steed, thundering down the tracks, with a train bearing down on him in the background, between stations........ Shocked

https://www.magazinebulletin.com/harrison-ford-80-stars-in-first-trailer-for-indiana-jones-and-the-dial-of-destiny/

(One online article has a drawing of INDy with a #6 train in hot pursuit!) Shocked

Interesting, also, to compare the original, 1900s-era mosaics in the IRT stations with the more modern, more "streamlined" tiled signs typical of the IND, by the 1930s.

Many BMT signs were "transitional", between the older IRT and the newer IND.............

The one on DeKalb Avenue is in fact typical of "Eye-Are-Tee" and "Bee-Em-Tee" stations built and tiled as part of the "Dual Contracts." Notice the last three "Bee-Em-Tee" stations built and opened - Broad Street and Fulton Street on the Nassau Street line, the Eighth Avenue terminus of 14th Street - were originally tiled "Eye-En-Dee" style itself. No doubt had any "Eye-Are-Tee" underground station been built and opened in the '30's, it too would have had its look "Eye-En-Dee'd."

W.B.:

Agreed 100%.

I have often thought that, had the "Eye-Are-Tee" opened either new "on line" stations (or, as part of a new line) during the 1930s, the overall design/tilework of the stations indeed would have reflcted the "Eye-En-Dee" (look at how the "Bee-Ess-Ess" in Philly (opened in 1928, four years before the "Eye-En-Dee") indeed had a strong (dare I say?) INDpedent look to it, reflecting the upcoming era of the 8th and 6th Avenue lines, during the 1930s.

Also, recall the "Aitch & EM's" new 33rd Street station of 1940; it, too, clearly reflected the "modern" styling of the 8th And 6th Avenue subways........

Wb.:

Talk about "NOSTALGIA".........Your's Truly (when he was MUCH, MUCH younger!) clearly recalls this incandescent-lit entrance sign at 33rd Street, directing passengers to the IRT/BMT/PATH...........

33rd Street, just prior to the "PA" car-era (ahhh, what happy childhood memories this timeless scene evokes!) Wink

Note the spacious, modern layout here; this easily could have been an "Eye-En-Dee" terminal station........
