I few weeks ago, I rode the B46 up Malcolm x blvd, and I saw an RTS Nova Bus 5105 displaying KINGS PLAZA in bright orange. I think they are good with the green signs they have now. |

T.M.,
I don't know about how well orange signs do on New York's RTS's (I didn't notice that in Brooklyn when I was there a few weeks ago), but I'll tell you that they make a heck of a difference out here in Los Angeles.
Even in bright sun light they are more distinct and can be seen a block or more away.
Of course, the RTS's suffer from the same problem as the NABI 60/65 BRT's and that is that the front destination sign window is angled in such a way that any bit of sun reflection substantially reduces the ability to read the legends.
That's why the bright orange does the best job.

I see 5105 quite a bit from time to time, some of those times I don't have a camera handy. Mostly I see it on the B41 and B46 lines.
But I have to say I totally love the orange LED over the green 'flip dot' signs. |
