Sounds like those yards were wide open, for a few of those buses to be "tagged" (but not to the same extent as their subway brethren, especially 'Eye-Ar-Tee'). |

W.B.:
The buses back then were "tagged"; the subway fleet, on the other hand, was "HIT", and I DO mean "HIT"!
Good thing that the "Em-Tee-Yay" had already removed upholstered seats from the older cars then in service, before the vandalism blitz really spiraled out of control.
I've heard stories from the later 1960's/early 70's of mindless punks taking seat cushions and just tossing them down to the street from between cars, while on elevated lines.
SCARY (and senseless) to be sure).............

While on the topic of "batwings"......
Who operated the most "batwing"-furnished buses, the "Tee-Yay" or MaBSTOA?
Personally, I still miss the "batwing" era, especially way back in the day, when there were still side roller sign boxes.......a number of American cities that once operated center-entrance streetcars also had large roller curtain boxes at the center doors.........
