Found these two photos in the internet... can someone explain the lettering and the fleet number?
No Fifth Avenue Coach "Queen Mary" had this fleet number

1960's for sure. Ironic that the term "Fifth Avenue Omnibus" was on that bus, given that Fifth Avenue Coach and NYC Omnibus were both under common ownership (and, in a situation similar to the title of Rich Cohen's book The Fish That Ate The Whale, from late 1954 until the 1956 reorganization as Fifth Avenue Coach Lines, NYCO owned FACCo); my understanding is that this moniker was used for this for legal reasons, given that FACL had the city and MaBSTOA in court for years over payment for the seizure of their fleets, depots, routes etc. I'll leave it to other experts what this 1000 was renumbered from.
