Joe:
Regarding PCC's in Mexico City.........
The very first PCC to run in Mexico City was a single unit, purchased in 1947; this lone car was used to provide extra-fare service to the famous "Floating Gardens".
During the 1950's, MEXICO CITY TRAMWAYS purchased 274 used PCC's from Detroit and the Twin Cities; by 1960, all streetcar operation in the city was being handled by PCC's.
Also, a new 4 1/2 mile rapid transit-style line opened, to handle four of the busiest car lines, and several track extensions were also made into the suburban areas.........

I'm sure that the "motoristas" (motormen) who piloted the PCC's in Mexico City must have thought them quite "state-of-the-art", compared to the ancient equipment they had operated previously (also, note front-engine buses in the background)

Here, we will relive the long-ago days of the single-truck "Toonervilles" of Santiago de Cuba (there are also a number of modern-day photos here, showing remains of the old tramway in recent years, including street trackage and overhead wire brackets).....

The trams and trolleybuses of Mendoza, Argentina (here is yet another page with a wonderful collection of vintage and modern photos; it is interesting to note that the original "San Diego Trolley" units were given a new lease on life by being purchased for a new light rail line in Mendoza!)
