37th & 2nd Avenue, 1974.
Our late friend "Mr. L" certainly would have enjoyed seeing the CAREY 4104 on the right (MaBSTOA #7326's driver is also looking quite dapper!)

Union St. & 39th, 1972.
LOVE the "IRT SUBWAY" on #5607's roller curtain; today, however, only older "Noo Yawkers" and old-time, die-hard transit buffs/historians (Your's Truly included!) still use the once commonplace and time-honored "IRT"/"BMT"/"IND" nomenclature.........

Parsons Blvd & 88th Avenue, 1981.
Nothing like a Flex and a slant-back RTS to really date a scene.......

Avenue B and East Broadway, #513, GM TDH-5302, ex Rochester RTA #213. Note the derelict new look in blue with an orange belt, ex-MSBA obviously for parts.

MaBSTOA 15:
Always sad to see old buses being used as parts donors.
I noticed the "RADIO JiT" posters in the background; I found a number of buses (both AVENUE B & MTA) displaying these cards, when looking for photos for my thread on "Buses And The Puerto Rican Day Parade".
Your photo, also, importantly, takes us back to a time when bus operations and depot activity was still quite interesting; today, it's all so hi-tech and homogenized, it just ain't the same anymore.
I still regret not knowing about the "AVENUE B" until many years after its demise; I would have went nuts with those ancient MACKS!!

Here in New Jersey, the last Flexies vanished over 20 years ago.
The ones I knew best were the NJDOT buses which began arriving in large numbers about 1976; the last I remember were those operated by NJT
An ex-WAMATA Flexie served on the old NHBL #1 line from about 1995 through 1997; I rode that bus every morning for quite a while, to reach the PATH station at Journal Square.
More than likely, this bus was one of the ones that trekked up from DC in the early 80's to pitch in for the sidelined GRUMMANS (danged if I thought to take even ONE photo!)
It was using an elderly Johnson "D" fare box that, clearly, had served aboard several generations of NHBL buses, in previous years!
