Wasn't this a demo, that also ran for the CTA? (or did the CTA roster a number of these New Looks with this style window?)
I've seen a photo of what looks to be the same bus in the photos you posted (with the same unusual windows), but numbered #8600.....

I'd expounded on them several pages before, but from what I've read, this particular demo bus indeed do service on the CTA, either before or after . . . |

W.B:
Appreciate this confirmation!
The one photo I have of this bus is seen in "WELCOME ABOARD THE GM NEW LOOK BUS" (McKane/Squier); the photo caption states (in part):
".......Chicago Transit Authority 8600 was part of a group of 150 Flxible New Looks that were purchased in conjunction with a 150 GMs for a side-by-side comparison........"

Fellows.......
Yesterday, I was browsing through my bus books (again!) and found myself (again!) looking at old photos of Flexies.
IMHO, in truth, these buses, sleek as they were, were not "New Looks" in the sense that the GMC "Fishbowls" were.
Aside from the forward-slanting windows (which were, of course, inspired by those used on the SCENICRUISER and 4104) the GM Fishbowl was an entirely new bus.
With the Flex coaches, however, basically what you had was a front end using a larger version of TWIN COACH's postwar windshields, grafted onto a body that clearly was inspired by the GM buses.
So, in truth, there was really nothing "new" here, expect, perhaps, to the FLXIBLE company itself.
Of course, as we all know, the GM Fishbowls also hit the streets earlier (1959), and, also, production also lasted longer (in Canada, early 1980's)
That all being said, I still miss the Flexies; the very last vanished from my area over 20 years ago, both transit and suburban models.
The only thing I did not like about the Flexies was that, when new, they replaced many Old Looks in my area; at that time, however, who amongst us even thought of the day when the Flex coaches themselves would be being replaced by newer models?
I know I certainly didn't!
And so, in closing, the years continue to fly by....much too fast for Your's Truly.......
