MANY THANKS for posting this photo!
With this high-quality photo, I can clearly see that what I thought was graffiti under the windows was actually part of the advertisement!
Thanks again for solving this little "puzzle".......

Yep. Very early "wrapping" attempt. Once again I directed . . .

In this 1981 photo, it sure looks like Flex #9065 went through a few rough rounds with Bruno Sammartino....(!!)

Thanks to Joe (RIP), bus and rapid transit enthusiasts/historians will continue to be using the thousands of vintage photos that were once part of his monumental photo collection, for many, many years into the future.
Joe left us much too soon.....

No exact location given for this 1974 photo, but it depicts #6652 holding down a "BX6" run.
What makes this photo interesting is the lone column in the foreground that once supported the 3rd Avenue El, the Bronx portion of which was closed the previous year.......

204th & Bainbridge, 1973.
Note the classic, old-fashioned store signage still commonplace back then; also, a two-light traffic signal......

The '12 TO 207 ST-BWAY' would date to 1969 - the year that route was extended there upon the demise of the Bx-19 - 207th Street Crosstown.

W,B.:
Your always astute and detailed comments further drive home the great need for a book to be published dedicated to the history of bus routes in New York (all independent companies, "Tee-Yay"/MaBSTOA/MTA)
Such a book could have pictures of the old roller curtains, maps, and notations on the routes, curtailments, abandonments, etc.
Would make for a tremendous and valuable research tool, that's for sure......

I just came across this photo (on EBay) of a Fifth Avenue Coach depot and buses at the 102nd Street garage dated 1915.
The buses appear to be DeDion-Bouton double deckers

WONDERFULLY nostalgic (and RARE!) oldphoto....thanks for posting here!
It was not until I bought the Ogden book on FACCo. some years back that I learned that the De Dion buses were NOT Mercedes vehicles! (that radiator insignia sure had me fooled!)
DE DIONS were also among the earliest London motor buses; not surprisingly,single-deck DE DIONS (with open rear platforms) were commonplace in Paris for many years......

Another view of a FACO garage, this one is at 88th Street. Note the early double deckers.

TALK ABOUT A RARE GLIMPSE INTO THE PAST!!
Though carbarn interior photos are fairly common, there seem to be very few EARLY photos of bus garage interiors.
This photo looks as though it dated to before WW1, or thereabouts.
The solid rubber tires ("tyres" in Great Britain!) also serve to further date this rare and VERY interesting old view.
These early buses, indeed, look quite archaic, when compared to one of the "Queen Mary" buses of the 1930's!
How much bus design had involved, in the span of just a few decades......
