While attending the MTAB Roadeo at Belmont Park last Saturday I had the opportunity to hear several LIB Orion V CNG's pulling away from a nearby stop on Hempstead Tpke. Those units sound very different than NYCT or MTAB buses; their note is truck-like, a real diesel song.
Are those Cummins engines that I heard snarling out that rooftop exhaust pipe?

Those are Cummins L10Gs with Allison B400Rs you're hearing.

Then again, you can never leave out the oldies with the bottom tailpipes and heavy fans Smile

Thanks for that info!
I'm used to seeing MTAB's Orion V CNG's, but the LIB Orion V CNG's alos look different from their MTAB (and NYCT) counterparts.
For starters, there's the 4-leaf jackknife-style front door; do these buses have front WCL's?
Then there's the strobe beacon mounted on the roof over the operator's
area; what is the function of this lamp (someone here or at BTN believed that it was a CNG alarm)?
What other equipment do these buses have?
Do they have retarders? kneelers?
What type of dest, sign? seat type?

The Strobe light is the engine alarm, in case the bus is gonna blow up, that's the only time it's in use. They have retarders AND kneelers, and
depending on the series, they have different destination signs

100-287: Luminator signs

288-395: Luminator MAX 3000 signs

396-462: Luminator Horizon signs

HOPE THAT HELPS!!
